SC.M2M Platform

Control over the SIM cards in any hardware

The SC.M2M Platform allows remote management of SIM cards in any equipment, as well as doing basic operation for this equipment control and management in case if certain protocols are supported by this equipment. The proposed solution for M2M device management consists of ACS (auto-configuration server) for CPE (customer premises equipment), working in the mobile network (2G/3G/4G) or in IOT networks (LoRaWAN, ZigBee, Z-Wave etc.).

System features allow customers and MNO to optimize management, costs and prevent non-intended use of devices.

Key features

  • CPE device management means initial device initialization and its subsequent configuring
  • Support of most management protocols:
    • OMA-DM
    • OneM2M
    • LWM2M over SMS or TCP/IP
    • MQTT
    • TR-069
    • SNMP
    • AT commands over SMS or TCP/IP
  • Bulk activities with devices are available for customers and MNO
  • Device parameter monitoring, collection and maintenance of device parameter values for the subsequent analysis
  • Customer's web interface allows to do the following:
    • Receive information about own devices
    • Manage own devices
    • Browse an event detailed log for each device
    • Browse statistical reports for devices or device groups
    • Browse monitoring pages and configure rules for notification forming
  • Web interface of MNO's employees allows to do the following:
    • Browse statistics: general, based on customers or device groups
    • Receive information about customers' devices
    • Block/unblock SIM cards of M2M devices
    • Manage tariff plans and customers' services
    • Configure CPE parameter transfer into other systems (HTTP/SOAP)
  • Provision of detailed reporting to customers and a platform's administrator
  • Notifications about events — setting of periodical notifications (by SMS, e-mail, via web interface) when parameter values exceed thresholds, when parameters are changed
  • Joint device management — separation of rights between several ACS servers for management, CPE monitoring
  • Provision of additional services to customers based on M2M device location monitoring
  • CDR formation

Benefits & advantages

  • Numerous options for manual and automatic CPE configuration:
    • Software/firmware upgrade, default reset
    • Software/firmware backup, software version identification
    • Device reset
    • All mistakes clearing
    • Network access configuration
    • Permission/prohibition of individual functions (for example, Wi-Fi)
    • Configuration of safety parameters
    • Configuration saving and restore from backup
    • Saving/restore from backup for data of a mobile terminal (SMS, address book)
    • Use of PIN codes and passwords on the devices
    • SIM card blocking
  • Huge list of controlled CPE parameters:
    • SIM card parameters: ICCID, MSISDN, IMSI, status
    • Radio network parameters: radio signal level, wireless networks status
    • Location parameters: registration network, Cell ID, built-in GPS/GLONASS receiver data
    • Hardware parameters: battery status, Firmware version, etc.
    • Software parameters: current processes, software version, etc.
    • Information about services rendered: IP, APN, transferred data volume, SMS number, remaining packets, etc.
    • And much more
  • Management by customers and MNO can be configured using the events mechanism. For example: data traffic volume is calculated by device group: when it goes over threshold value, then working mode is changed (if this rule is set by the customer) or an option in the billing plan is switched off (if this rule is set by the MNO)
  • Capacity to extend the standard set of CPE management commands
  • CPE Proxy support
  • Automatic loading of the customer's M2M terminal list from billing
  • Capacity to integrate with other ACS and M2M systems
  • Reducing the MNO’s licensing costs via using internal HLR and billing for operation with M2M subscribers. The platform allows the MNO to specify its own virtual SIM ranges and operate with them (data and SMS transfer). Therefore, licensed MSISDN and billing capacities will not have to be used for SIM card data. For this purpose, platform may contain a special HLR (SC.M2M EasyHLR) and billing for operation with M2M subscribers.
  • Easy administration system
  • System fault tolerance and high performance
