Live interaction with subscribers

The SC.LiveScreen solution consists of a VAS platform for campaign management and Java applet installed on subscribers' SIM cards. The use of the VAS platform in combination with an applet on the SIM card is an efficient tool for informing and interacting with subscribers, which has certain advantages over other means (MT SMS and USSD Push).

The applet can receive messages which it will display on the screen of the subscriber's telephone upon the advent of different events. These messages can be longer than traditional SMS, they will not occupy SMS memory, and are removed automatically when no longer relevant. Interactivity is a new feature — the displayed advertising/informative message (teaser) can be used to send SMS/USSD, make a call, and open specific links in the browser. In combination with the capabilities of the VAS platform, which allows management of simultaneous campaigns, collection of statistical data and generation of reports, it is a powerful marketing tool.

Key features

Campaign management functionality includes:

  • Plugin management on SIM cards with the applet (download, removal)
  • Individually for each campaign:
    • Indication of subscriber segment
    • Setting up interaction scenarios
    • Text entry and other teaser configurations
    • Setting up campaign validity period
    • Start/pause/stop/re-start

  • Receiving a plugin from the platform (transport — SMS) and its installation on a SIM card
  • Deactivating the plugin

  • Displaying the teaser after arrival of Push message from the platform
  • Displaying the teaser after a certain telephone event (Active Screen)
  • Sending USSD message after the subscriber presses a certain button on the teaser
  • Viewing active offers with DSTK menu

The following events may serve as triggers for displaying Active Screen:

  • Turning on the phone (registration in the network)

  • Ending/interruption of a voice call
  • Outbound SMS/MMS
  • Internet browser closing
  • Replacement of the phone model
  • Subscriber's registration for roaming

The following actions may be executed on the phone's screen after buttons and menu items are pressed:

  • Opening of the next teaser
  • Sending of an SMS to a service number
  • Sending of USSD commands
  • Call initiation (for instance, to the IVR service)
